In San Diego, the Padres Foundation supports the Padres Rookie League programs (formerly known as Padres RBI), which provides children that live in at-risk communities an outlet to thrive through baseball/softball and teamwork. This free instructional baseball and softball program serves boys and girls from 5-13 throughout the region. The Padres Foundation furnishes leagues with everything they need including jerseys, hats, baseball equipment, and tickets to Padres games.  Free mitts are provided by the Masons of California. The Padres are expanding the program for the 2024 season by offering Padres Rookie League and other free baseball/softball clinics in North County San Diego, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, San Ysidro, and making plans for Tijuana.
